• Sheldon ISD Superintendent - King R. Davis

    Davis King
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new and returning students and staff members to the Sheldon ISD family! Great things are continuing to happen at Sheldon ISD.

We are classified as a fast-growth district. As a result, voters approved a $285 million bond election in May 2016 which focused on the future needs of our district. Currently construction is underway for a state-of-the-art high school and stadium facility which will be visible off the Beltway 8. Also, a new Elementary #6 will be located on that same property.

Sheldon ISD's mission is to "provide personalized learning opportunities to ensure all students graduate college and career ready." Therefore, it is our responsibility to help each and every student learn, grow and be challenged to do their very best every day. One of my main focuses this school year was built around the acroynm "MORE" - "More Opportunities to Reach Everyone."

Beginning this school year, at the middle school level, Sheldon ISD is providing "MORE" opportunities for our students as both C. E. King Middle School and Michael R. Null Middle School have transitioned into STEM Academies where students will receive an enhanced education in the areas of science, tecnhology, engineering and mathematics. Additionally, we are in the process of offering "MORE" choices in the near future for elementary students by creating a "School of Choice" model. The purpose of a "School of Choice" model is to allow parents to select an elementary campus based on its specialty rather than proximity.

At the high school level, we are continuing to offer "MORE" college and career offerings. In fact, when the new high school is completed in the fall of 2019, it will also have six different academies for students to choose from: Business and Industry Academy (culinary arts, business); Human Services Academy (health sciences, cosmetology); Public Services Academy (criminal justice, teaching); Agriculture, Manufacturing and Construction Academy (agriculture, HVAC, welding, auto technology); STEAM Academy (technology, STEM, fine arts); and the Early College High School Academy.

I believe that these new and upcoming initiatives throughout our school dsitrict is carrying us right into 21st century learning. Also, I believe that strong communities build strong schools, and strong schools build strong communities. We all must contribute to sustain a productive community that instills pride in every member, whether our role is in the home, community, or our schools. Education is a shared responsibility.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns about our district, and I look forward to meeting you at an upcoming school function and/or athletic event.

    Sincerely,

    King R. Davis
    Superintendent
    Sheldon Independent School District
