Property Tax FAQ

You must own and occupy the property as your primary residence and provide a valid Texas driver's license or ID card with a matching address.

Sheldon ISD gives 20% off the total Appraised Value of your property and the state gives an additional $100,000 off the total Appraised Value of your property.

Tax statements are available online. Failure to receive a tax statement does not affect the validity of the tax, penalty and interest, due date, the existence of a tax lien or any procedure instituted to collect a tax.

Tax statements are normally mailed in October of the tax year and are due upon receipt. In order to be timely, payment of taxes must be postmarked before the specified date. Taxes are delinquent on February 1st of each year. Taxes are subject to penalty and interest, and possible lawsuit.
