Languages Other Than English - LOTE
At Sheldon ISD, the Languages Other than English (LOTE) program provides students with the two years of foreign language necessary for graduation as well as a continuation of courses towards acquiring a bilingualism and/or biliteracy performance acknowledgement. The program educates students to be linguistically and culturally equipped to communicate successfully in a diverse American society. Students will develop and maintain proficiency in a second language through listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Middle school students can begin to obtain their foreign language credits by enrolling in the Spanish language course(s), and upon transitioning to high school they can continue in Spanish or choose to take French courses.
Our intended goal for our students is to understand diverse cultures and develop a multicultural perspective that will provide our students a competitive edge.
