Season:
UIL rules allow each student to participate in seven events which run from November 1st to April 20th. This may be extended through April and May for Regional and State meets.
Players:
Any student at the high school may participate. A physical and additional forms must be completed prior to actual practice. If the player is failing one or more subjects, that player must attend tutorials rather than practice until the problem is corrected. UIL rules state that no player can participate in any golf event until they are academically acceptable.
Equipment:
We prefer that the student has their own equipment. This promotes ownership, responsibility, and a better chance that they will continue to enjoy playing beyond the school environment. If this is not possible please don't get discouraged, we will do our best to outfit each player through donations and other means.
Transportation:
Students must provide their own transportation to River Terrace Golf Course for practice sessions. See our calendar for practice times.
Coaching Philosophy:
Winning is fun, but not our major goal. Golf is a very traditional game played by dignitaries and peasants alike. People of all ages and physical states play and enjoy the game. Our goal is to develop a love of the game of golf along with its rules of conduct, etiquette and sportsmanship that will last our young men and woman a life time.
