Fine Arts
Sheldon ISD's mission "to maintain a safe environment where staff, parents, and community work together to engage students in personalized learning opportunities to ensure they are college- and career-ready" is directly reflected through our fine arts programs by providing high-quality fine arts learning, growth, and performance opportunities beginning at the early childhood academies through high school.
Mission: In Sheldon ISD Fine Arts, we foster the development of the whole child, both in and through the arts, (and in so doing, enrich the community) by sparking growth and success from our individual students and from our overall programs.

“I believe arts education in music, theater, dance, and the visual arts is one of the most creative ways we have to find the gold that is buried just beneath the surface. They (children) have an enthusiasm for life, a spark of creativity, and vivid imaginations that need training – training that prepares them to become confident young men and women.”
– Richard W. Riley, Former US Secretary of Education

Our Sheldon ISD (Visual) Art program has earned the TAEA (Texas Art Education Association) District of Distinction honor for two years running!
Over 1,200 districts are eligible to apply and less than 10% of the top districts statewide earn this distinction. The Visual Art Administrators of Texas, a division of TAEA, recognizes districts with outstanding leadership in promoting the arts in their district and community using a rigorous 14-point rubric that examines the district's visual art program from participation in TAEA through membership, exhibitions, contests, and community engagement in the visual arts through field experiences, community service, and collaboration with other content areas.
Our Director of Fine Arts was named the 2024 Texas Thespians Administrator of the Year!
Texas Thespians present this award annually to outstanding school administrators who have demonstrated exemplary support for educational theatre.
