Families in Action - Volunteer

You can become a volunteer in Sheldon ISD in the steps listed below:

1. Apply - Every volunteer is required to complete a volunteer application. This provides a way for the district to place you with an opportunity that matches your request to our needs. Volunteers must pass a routine background check to serve in our schools. Our policy requires volunteers to complete and submit a criminal background check prior to interacting in our schools and with students. A new check must be completed by volunteers each school year. You may apply online or directly at your child’s school. Opportunities to volunteer will be available through the Raptor Volunteer Management System. Each campus and building location will post opportunities specific to their campus. *Please note that a background check could take up to 72 hours to be processed and will not be finalized automatically at the campus or district office.
   Click here to complete an application to volunteer! Volunteers should be 18 years of age or older.
   
   For added measures of safety, please note all parent/guardians accompanying their child on a field trip are considered volunteers. Please complete a background check and volunteer application in order to attend field trips with your child's school.
    
2. Training - If your application has been approved, volunteers will be notified to attend a training session if needed.
    
3. Placement - Volunteers will be placed to volunteer based on the information provided on the application. Volunteers will be connected to the campus where they will be serving at that time.
    
4. Check the Portal - Check the Portal to learn more about opportunities to volunteer and manage your hours.

Once you have received an approved background check, gone through training and been placed at a campus, log in to the volunteer portal to manage your hours, find opportunities at schools and more.
