Sheldon School Based Clinic
Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Opened in 2006, Harris County Hospital District’s Sheldon School-based Clinic (SBC) is staffed with an advanced practice nurse, a licensed vocational nurse, and a clinical clerical specialist providing a wealth of services to children who otherwise wouldn't have convenient access to health care. The clinic is linked with a HCHD Community Health Center and 3 hospitals that provide pediatric specialty care. The clinic provides care to ages newborn to 18yrs of age. Services include:
- well child exams,
- family education,
- evaluation and treatment of minor acute and chronic health problems,
- referrals for specialty care, including psychiatry and behavioral health therapy,
- pharmacy services,
- basic lab procedures,
- vision/hearing screening, and
- immunizations. (see notice below)
Because our district is located outside the city limits of Houston in a rural setting, we are severely limited in our access to medical care.
Sheldon School-based Clinic enables us to provide preventative and early detection services without students having to travel outside the District. The goal is to improve the health status of our community’s children.
For an appointment, please call 713-873-KIDS (5437). Sheldon SBC accepts all Medicaid/CHIP plans and all major insurance plans. For information about Harris County Hospital District’s financial assistance program, call 713-566-6509 and ask to speak to an eligibility counselor.
