The Sheldon ISD STEM Academy is proud to announce that we have received a 4 year T-STEM Designation from the Texas Education Agency for grades 6 - 12.  This means that the Sheldon STEM program meets several criteria and outcome-based measures to be designated as a high-quality STEM program.  Read more here:  https://tea.texas.gov/T-STEM/
 
The mission of the Sheldon ISD STEM program is to provide engaging, rigorous STEM content that develops a student’s ability to answer complex questions, to investigate global issues, and to develop solutions to challenging, real-world problems. 

Sheldon ISD's vision is to provide our students with a model STEM program that develops lifelong learners who are prepared for post-secondary education and 21st century careers.
 
 
                                
 

Why STEM?

  • Rigorous STEM courses prepare students for college coursework.
  • STEM prepares students for a highly technical 21st Century workforce.
  • Approximately 7,000 STEM jobs were unfilled in 2016
  • STEM jobs are increasing at a faster rate than non-STEM jobs
  • STEM career wages are, on average, nearly double the national average wage for non-STEM careers.
