Superintendent’s Scholar Squad

The Superintendent’s Scholar Squad is a student advisory program and offers recommendations to support school system programs and initiatives. Members are Sheldon ISD elementary, middle and high school students who focus on continuous improvement throughout the district.


The Superintendent’s Scholar Squad will:

  • Serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas and concerns related to the continued enhancement of Sheldon ISD programs
  • Provide feedback for ongoing development and evaluation of Sheldon ISD programs and processes
  • Develop leadership capacity among students
  • Empower students to have a voice 
  • Encourage opportunities for service projects in the Sheldon community


Process

The program is offered for students in fourth through twelfth grades and is by application only. Once applications are reviewed, students invited to join the program will be contacted with a schedule of meetings and more information. Meetings are held during the school day and transportation will be provided. 


Application

Applications for the 2024-25 school year will open in May of 2024.
*Interested students should be in fourth through twelfth grades. The screening process will include the application, teacher recommendation letter, good attendance and behavior and review of grade point average.

On September 27, members of the Superintendent’s Scholar Squad held its first meeting at the NEY Administration Building. The Superintendent’s Scholar Squad is a student advisory program and offers recommendations to support school system programs and initiatives. Members are Sheldon ISD elementary, middle and high school students who focus on continuous improvement throughout the district.

The group is made up of 13 members representing various schools in Sheldon ISD. During the first meeting, students got to know one another and learned more about the school district and their community. Together, the squad will determine a community service project in the Sheldon community and work on ways to make a difference for others. This is a year-long program. Applications will open for the 2024-25 school year in May 2024.
