Legislative

Sheldon ISD encourages residents to stay informed and vote in elections. Local Texas elections are important because many issues that impact public education are determined at the state level. See if you are registered to vote here.

The Texas Legislature meets in Austin every odd-numbered year from January through May. The 87th legislative session began January 12, 2021.

Legislative Priorities

Prior to legislative sessions, Sheldon ISD works in tandem with the Board of Trustees to develop priorities based on importance to SISD and the state education system. The school district advocates for four key areas: accountability/student success, school finance, fast-growth schools, and health and safety.
