Please consider donating to May 10 'Senior Decision Day' event

Each year, the Sheldon ISD community donates Decision Day baskets to support graduating KHS seniors as they pursue their postsecondary goals. Similar to an athlete's signing day, Decision Day recognizes students who have committed to a college, university, technical program or the military. Please consider collecting items for a campus or department basket. Attached is a list of suggestions for donations. Please share with community organizations and vendors who wish to support KHS seniors.Decision Day - May 10, 2019, 9-11 AM in the KHS Competition GymBasket Pick Up - May 3, 2019

Possible 'stranger danger' incident this morning (April 9) in Bavaria neighborhood

Parents, Sheldon ISD would like to make you aware of a “stranger danger” incident that occurred near the Bavaria neighborhood this morning. In addition, administrators learned of this incident this afternoon.
At approximately 6:20 a.m. today, a C. E. King High School student was approached by a Caucasian male and female – believed to be in their late 20s to possibly early 40s – driving a late model blue BMW four-door SUV at the intersection of Pia Drive and Piave Drive. The couple stayed near the bus stop area for around 15 minutes before asking the student if they knew how to get to the airport.
While the student was on the phone contacting a parent, the couple sped off in their SUV and continued to circle the Bavaria neighborhood.
Thankfully, no one was harmed, and the police are currently investigating this incident. In the meantime, I encourage you to discuss these safety tips with your children:

• Students should walk in groups, not alone;
• Students should avoid distractions, such as cell phones, and pay attention to their surroundings;
• Students who are approached by a stranger should run away and seek help from others;
• Students should physically resist and yell for help if anyone tries to force them into a vehicle or a home; and
• Students should immediately report any incident that makes them feel uncomfortable.

Again, Sheldon ISD administrators are working very closely with local law enforcement to help them in any way possible during their ongoing investigation.
Thank you.

Update - 4/3/19 9:48 a.m.

Sheldon ISD is also limiting all outside activities today until the odor dissipates. In addition, we are closing off outside air vents to prevent outside air from entering the campuses. Please note - this does not affect our air conditioning system...as they will continue to function properly.
These are just additional precautionary measures the district is taking to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
Thank you....

Earlier this morning, Sheldon ISD administrators placed Carroll Elementary, Garrett Elementary, and Null Middle School in a shelter in place for approximately 30 minutes as a precautionary measure because a gas-like odor was detected in the areas surrounding those campuses.
The local fire department was dispatched, and we are happy to report that all campuses were quickly cleared of any gas detection.
Sheldon ISD would like to thank the Sheldon Fire Department, Harris County Precinct 3 Constables, and SISD maintenance department personnel for their swift actions in helping resolve this situation by using gas-detecting instruments.
