Sheldon ISD joins nation in celebrating 'Black History Month'

Black History Month was originally organized by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH).

This traditional week-long event was changed to an all-month celebration during February each year in 1976 after former President Gerald Ford promoted the event the previous year.

This year's theme is Black Migrations which emphasizes the movement of people of African descent to new destinations and subsequently to new social realities.
