STEM students' hard work earns letterman jackets!

The STEM/PTECH Academy students at C.E. King High School can earn a STEM letterman jacket by maintaining good grades in all classes at KHS and attending dual credit classes at San Jacinto college. While at San Jac College they must complete at least 3 classes with a GPA of 2.5 or higher to earn the jacket – most of our students earn their jacket by the end of their junior year and all that have earned the jacket usually go on to complete 15-60 college hours while in high school.

It is an incentive have in the STEM/PTECH Academy to encourage our students to not just attend dual credit college classes while in high school, but to do well in those classes by earning a high GPA. Our dual credit STEM students have earned a total of 1,244 college hours in the last 2 years and 75% of them maintained a GPA of 2.5 or higher. They are learning to build good habits for college while in high school and we hope this is the foundation of a very successful college experience for our students as they pursue higher level degrees after high school graduation.
