Meet the Superintendent of Schools

Dr. Demetrius McCall has been the Superintendent of Schools in Sheldon ISD since 2023. In his 20 year career in education, he has served in multiple leadership roles including deputy superintendent, high school principal and classroom teacher.  Dr. McCall has a doctorate of educational leadership from Lamar University, a master’s in educational management from the University of Houston Clear Lake and a bachelor's degree in science from Western Michigan University. He is passionate about community engagement to incorporate a sense of pride and culture throughout the diverse community in Sheldon. He leads with a conviction for finding personalized learning opportunities for all students.  

He and his wife Candice are from Detroit, Michigan. Mrs. McCall is a counselor at Sheldon ISD’s King Middle School, and they have two children. Dr. McCall is active in his church, serving as a deacon, and is a member of several civic organizations including North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce and North Shore Rotary.

Secretary to the Superintendent

Sandra Matthieu, a longtime employee of the district and an alumnus of C. E. King High School, serves as the secretary to the Superintendent as well as the secretary to the Board of Trustees. She also serves the district as the election supervisor, handling school board elections. Ms. Matthieu is known for her willingness to help wherever she is needed, which is a great asset in the superintendent's office.
