Sheldon ISD Executive Director of Communications & Community Partnerships Named Chief Community Engagement Officer for Humble ISD

Mrs. Emily Conklin, Executive Director of Communications and Community Partnerships, transitions to a new role in another district.

Sheldon Independent School District announces that Emily Conklin, APR, CPC, Executive Director of Communications and Community Partnerships, has accepted a new role as Chief Community Engagement Officer for Humble ISD.

Conklin joined Sheldon ISD in 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and quickly became an integral part of the district’s leadership team. During her tenure, she helped elevate Sheldon’s communications and community engagement efforts, leading community initiatives such as creation of the Partners in Education, Families in Action volunteer program, the Blue Card program, Sheldon Ambassador Academy and more. Her work has strengthened relationships between the district, families, and community partners while enhancing Sheldon ISD’s public presence and transparency.

“Emily has been a tremendous asset to Sheldon ISD,” said Dr. Demetrius McCall, Superintendent of Schools. “Her creativity, leadership, and heart for our community have left a lasting impact. We are proud of her accomplishments and wish her continued success in her new role.”

As the Chief Community Engagement Officer, Conklin will lead strategies to build partnerships with parents, community members, businesses and organizations. Key responsibilities include coordinating and managing the district’s volunteer programs, campus parent groups, business and community partnerships and serving as Executive Director of the Humble ISD Education Foundation. Additionally, this position oversees the competitive grants life cycle process, securing and stewarding outside competitive funding that supports district priorities.

“I will always be grateful for my time in Sheldon,” said Emily Conklin. “This district welcomed me with open arms and became my family. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together and excited to continue serving public education in a neighboring district.”

Conklin’s last day with Sheldon ISD will be December 19.
