Sheldon ISD Education Foundation Delivers More Than $55,000 in Surprise Grants to Teachers

Sheldon ISD educators received an early holiday surprise as the district’s Education Foundation awarded more than $55,000 in classroom grants on December 12. The Education Foundation Board of Directors, along with the Foundation Board of Directors and district administrators, visited 11 campuses to present 32 oversized checks to teachers and staff.

In total, $55,643 was distributed to fund innovative classroom ideas, lessons, and projects. The Education Foundation also presented more than $18,240 in a single grant, the largest grant awarded in the organization’s history, to Mr. Craig Jones, King High School welding teacher. With the funds, Mr. Jones will purchase the X-Tool 1200W All-in-One Metal Fabrication Bundle to integrate digital fabrication, laser welding, and CNC cutting into the CE King High School Welding Program. King High School will be one of the only schools in the area to use this resource. This investment supports career-ready education by introducing students to emerging manufacturing technologies, enhancing hands-on STEM integration, and aligning CTE curriculum with industry standards.

The Sheldon ISD Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization, raises money each year to support educators who apply for these competitive grants. To date, the Foundation has awarded more than $310,000 to empower creative and impactful teaching across the district. Sheldon ISD educators can apply annually by submitting proposals designed to enrich student learning and enhance classroom experiences.
