Sheldon ISD celebrates STEM Day with local partner Eli Lilly and Company

On November 11, Sheldon Elementary hosted its annual STEM Day, bringing together students, educators, and community partners to spark curiosity and foster a love for science, technology, engineering, and math. Among the participants were volunteers from Eli Lilly and Company, who spent the day inspiring young minds and showing how STEM careers can change lives.

Lilly’s team led hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations, making complex concepts approachable and fun. Students explored engineering principles and learned how technology shapes the world around them.

“It’s powerful to think that the students in our classrooms today could be the engineers and innovators of tomorrow, right down the street at the new Lilly Houston site” highlighted Becky Zalesnik, Sheldon ISD Executive Director of Innovative Programs. “Opportunities like this help them see what’s possible and inspire them to dream big.”

This initiative reflects Lilly’s long-standing commitment to education and community engagement. In Houston, that commitment is evident through Lilly’s $6.5 billion manufacturing campus at Generation Park, which will create hundreds of high-quality jobs in life sciences and engineering.

Sheldon ISD welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with local partners like Eli Lilly and Company to meet the needs of students.
