Sheldon ISD announces Ms. Jacqueline Burquez as the Elementary Principal of the Year and Mr. Roberto Gonzalez as the Secondary Principal of the Year. Mrs. Burquez has led Sheldon Lake Elementary as principal since January 2022. Since then her work has centered on academic growth, collaboration, and a strong sense of school pride. During the 2024–2025 school year, Sheldon Lake Elementary demonstrated the most student growth in reading and math across the district, improving 16 points! In addition, the campus is also the reigning champion of the PVA vs. PVA Battle. Mr. Gonzalez has been the principal of Michael R. Null Middle School since 2020. He first joined Sheldon ISD in 2016 as the Academy Principal of Curriculum and Instruction at C.E. King High School. Under his leadership, Michael R. Null Middle School earned a designation in 2024 as an AVID National Demonstration school, reflecting a deep commitment to college readiness and instructional excellence. Both Ms. Burquez and Mr. Gonzalez will represent Sheldon ISD in the Region 4 Principal of the Year competition.
