On May 7, Sheldon ISD administration and Gulf Coast Educators FCU surprised Arissa Hayden, fourth grade teacher at Carroll Elementary, with the Appreciated Teacher Award for 2024. Each year, Gulf Coast Educators FCU recognizes teachers through a program designed to honor the work of dedicated educators who make a difference in our community. Once a committee determines the finalists, the public can vote on their choice for Appreciated Teacher of the Year. For this year’s awards, there were approximately 500 nominations from more than 108 school districts across the state. Ms. Hayden has more than eight years of teaching experience and is the school’s robotics coach and serves as a Sheldon ISD staff ambassador.
