7 Sheldon ISD Artists earn places at Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo

Sheldon ISD is proud to announce that seven student artists have earned distinguished honors in the 2026 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) School Art Program. Following a rigorous selection process amongst 150 public and private schools in the Houston area, these students were awarded either Best of Show or Gold Medal distinctions for their exceptional talent and creative vision.

As a result of this prestigious recognition, these seven artworks will be professionally curated and displayed in the Hayloft Gallery at NRG Center during the duration of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. We encourage families visiting the Houston Rodeo this year to view these outstanding works of art. 

Best of Show Honors

• Braelynn Adams, Sheldon Lake Elementary – "Rodeo World"
• Sofia Zuniga, M.R. Null Middle School – "A Horse's Light"
• Angelina Ruiz, C.E. King High School – "Old Texas"

Gold Medal Honors

• Lael Silva, Sheldon Lake Elementary – "Reflections"
• Rodrigo Roa, C.E. King Middle School – "Hazel and Fawn"
• April Phat, C.E. King High School – "Barny and Nathan"
• Maria Mendoza, C.E. King High School – "Granny Ducks"
