On Monday, January 25, 2016 C. E. King Middle School held AVID Family Night. AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a non-profit organization dedicated to closing the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and other opportunities.
We understand that this may be a difficult time for some students. It would not be unusual for students to behave and express themselves differently during the next few weeks. Such an incident can have a profound effect on students, even if they are not in the same class or grade. Grief counselors will be available to any students or staff needing to talk. These counselors are well prepared to assist both students and staff following such a tragic incident.
As part of College Week, three current college students from Sam Houston State University came to talk to the students of KMS about college and what it’s like.

Sheldon ISD is getting ready for its biggest annual fundraiser, the Sheldon Shuffle 5K run/walk. All money raised goes toward the Sheldon Education Foundation, which allows the Foundation to award grants to our teachers and scholarships for our kids!

There have been a growing number of incidents and safety concerns in recent weeks raised by the Consumer Product Safety Commission associated with hoverboards, also known as self-balancing scooters or hands-free segways. In light of the number incidents reported in the news, and the potential impact to the safety of our students, Sheldon ISD has decided that these devices will not be allowed on district property.
