Girls' basketball practice after school hours. What can students learn without a pencil and paper? Endurance, perseverance, problem-solving and many other things. Thank you, girls, for showing heart!

Happy New Year! 2012 is going to be a great year as we celebrate 60 years as a school district. Sheldon ISD was first established in 1952 and has continued to grow and change in those 60 years. During this year, we will take a look back at the rich history of Sheldon ISD and will also look forward to the future generations who will be educated in our district. We are Sheldon, a community of learners, sharing the past, shaping the future.

MORE Summer fun at summer school! Who says summer school is boring?
What I saw today as I visited elementary and kindergarten summer school was far from boring. Students were engaged in a myriad of fun activities. One kindergarten class was learning about summer, the weather, and all kinds of good summer words. In addition, they were making their own sunglasses. You can see some pictures above!

I visited a few of the summer school classes today. I was able to see the GT summer camp learning about entomology through painting with maggots and preparing delicacies with worms and fire ants! I was really glad that I didn’t have to eat the worm pizza! Math classes were busy with fractions, circumference, and number lines. Ms. Hill even allowed me to illustrate the concept of positive and negative on the number line with some of her students. Also, Suzuki violin lessons are continuing through the summer as you can see from the picture above. I enjoyed a respite from my paperwork—interacting with our students always makes my day delightful!
I attended one of the most wonderful graduations last night as C. E. King High School seniors came together for the last time as a class to celebrate! The graduates were amazing! They were respectful of the solemnity of the occasion, yet they celebrated together as classmates received their diplomas and made their speeches.

I know they are going to make Sheldon ISD and C. E. King High School very proud as they enter the adult world.
Congratulations, Class of 2011!
