GT Referral and Identification Process

Child LearningThe purpose of the gifted and talented identification process is to identify and serve the special educational needs of students who “perform or show the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment” (Texas Education Code §29.123). The process consists of three steps: referral, screening, and selection.

Students may be referred by parents, peers, community members, teachers, counselors, administrators, other professional personnel, or themselves. Referral forms, available on this site and in the front office on each campus, must be submitted to the campus G/T facilitator within the following dates.
