Purpose:Mentoring is a mutually agreeable relationship that is sustained over time and intended to further the educational and professional development of the protégé. A mentor shall act as a professional coach, much like in athletics, advising, guiding, providing feedback, and developing instructional strategies with the protégé. The mentor will also assist the protégé in becoming acclimated to the procedures, policies, culture, and people unique to his school.
There will be a total of five observations for new teachers. The mentee will have three opportunities to observe classroom instruction while the mentor will observe the mentee at least two times per year. The first observation will include the mentee observing the mentor. The second observation will be the mentor observing the mentee.
Second year teachers will participant in two observations. The mentor and mentee will observe each other once during the school year.
