Try outs take place in April for the following school year. 

If you are currently a 6th or 7th grader in January of any given year you may try out. 

No. New sixth graders are not eligible to try-out until the spring of their 6th grade year. 

There is NO cost to try out. There is a fee required ONLY if you make the squad. 

The fee varies from year to year based on the prices from the suppliers. The KMS coaches work hard to find the best possible prices each year to keep the cost as low as possible. The fee is a ONE TIME FEE and includes all practice gear, uniforms, camp and equipment required for the year. A new physical must be on file before you try out. The physical must be completed on the SHELDON ISD PHYSICAL FORM. The form color changes each year. Be sure to see the coaches to pick up a current form before visiting the doctor. You can have your own doctor fill out the form or you can have an RN fill out the form at a clinic (CVS, Walgreens, etc. have a clinic in some of their locations that offer this service).
