Dual Credit/MECA/Early College High School

A dual credit course provides juniors and seniors with the opportunity to simultaneously earn college credit and high school credit for a single course. Students must meet the San Jacinto College admission requirements and receive permission from the high school administration prior to enrollment. Strict guidelines apply for meeting testing and application deadlines. During the 2012-2013 school year, dual credit courses will be taught by college instructors on the San Jacinto College North campus. Students who take dual credit courses are responsible for the San Jacinto College discounted tuition, as well as any fees and the cost of textbooks. Interested students should discuss MECA with their King High School guidance counselor.

MECA--Modified Early College Academy

Incoming juniors who meet the requirements for dual credit can experience the college environment earlier than their peers and take advantage of the opportunity to earn an Associates degree by the time they graduate from high school. MECA, a full-time college and part-time high school program, is offered on the San Jacinto College North campus.

  • Incoming juniors only
  • Successfully complete Pre-AP Algebra II by end of sophomore year
  • Earn Associate’s Degree – requires summer courses
Interested students should contact their King High School guidance counselor or visit www.sanjac.edu/dualcredit
