Panther Library Policies Panther

The library is open on school days from 8:10 AM - 4:30 PM. Students using the library in the morning before school are expected to quietly read or study. Students who wish to use the library after school may stay until 4:30 if arrangements have been made ahead of time. If there are no activity buses available after school, students staying after school must make their own transportation arrangements.

During the school day, students may come to the library with a signed pass from a classroom teacher. Students will present passes at the circulation desk. After completing library tasks, students will return to class.
Students are allowed to have 2 library books checked out at one time, and may keep books for two weeks. Books may be renewed for 2 additional weeks. Students may not check out additional books if they owe for a lost or damaged book, or if they have overdue books. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the librarian. Students are expected to pay the replacement cost for lost or damaged books.

There are reference books such as dictionaries and encyclopedias that are available for students to check out on an overnight basis. These books are due back in the library on the following school day.
Internet access in the library is for research purposes only. Students will not be permitted to play games on the computers for recreation. Nor are they permitted to surf internet sites not related to a class assignment without specific permission from the librarian. It is against Sheldon ISD policies for students to listen to streaming music or to watch streaming videos on district computers. The rules outlined in Sheldon's Acceptable Use Policy apply in the library. Any student who violates any provision of the Acceptable Use Policy may lose all computer network privileges.

Students are not to bring food, gum or drinks into the library. Also, students are not permitted to have permanent markers at school. Please help to keep the library a clean, studious environment for the Panther community.
